Parent Involvement

The Child Care and Development Block Grant, the federal law that sets the parameters from which state legislation is written, does not have any minimum consumer education requirements for parents. The law requires only that:

• Child care providers allow parents unlimited access to their children during the normal hours of operation and whenever children are in the care of such providers; and
• States maintain a record of substantiated parental complaints and make information regarding such parental complaints available to the public on request.
