Change begins at NACCRRA's 2009 National Policy Symposium!

Join national child care experts and leaders and a network of your colleagues in discovering how, together, we can work toward "Getting Child Care on the Right Track." Learn about real, workable policy solutions and initiatives that will help us change the current state of child care and create a brighter future for our nation's children.

Come and learn about the changing trends in the use of the World Wide Web or "Web 2.0" that enhances the creativity, communications, secure information sharing, collaboration and functionality of the web. Web 2.0 leads the development and evolution of web culture communities and hosted services such as social-networking sites, video sharing sites, wikis and blogs. Stay plugged in and up-to-date as we learn new ways to advocate for child care!

New this year to the 2009 National Policy is Parents@Symposium...

This year, NACCRRA is pleased to include parents as our guest participants, speakers and advocates at Symposium. We have invited State Networks to bring parents who are interested in sharing their experiences with child care with members of Congress.

The needs of working parents of young children are under-represented in the halls of Congress. Parents' priorities for child care quality and affordability are not clear to policymakers. Their voices can get lost in a sea of highly organized special interest groups. Our research on parents and grandparents suggests that there are clear mandates that are not being heard, and as a result, parents' needs are not being addressed and child care continues to be overlooked as national priorities.

The Parents@Symposium program is one element of our public policy strategy designed to ensure that policymakers hear directly from parents. The program includes a series of highly interactive sessions designed specifically to prepare parents to meet with their representatives in Congress and the media at our Day on the Hill... and beyond.
