Lynette M. Fraga, Ph.D., Child Care Aware® of America's Executive Director, will speak at a public session of The Institute of Medicine's Standing Committee on Childhood Obesity Prevention on Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, in Washington D.C. Speakers at the session, "A Conversation about Parents and Childhood Obesity Prevention," will explore how parents view childhood obesity prevention, insights from child development for obesity prevention, and parent engagement and leadership in preventing obesity among children.
Dr. Fraga will present during the third panel of the session, which will focus on optimizing and supporting parent engagement in childhood obesity prevention.
The IOM’s Standing Committee serves as a focal point for national and state-level policy discussions about obesity prevention among leaders and experts in the field, in government, and from other related disciplines. The committee also guides the selection of obesity prevention topics to be examined through the IOM’s public workshops and consensus studies.
