The stories of two Child Care Aware® of America parent leaders were featured in weekend Washington Post articles that highlighted the need for stronger child care standards in Virginia.

Elly Lafkin, who will be a Parent @ Symposium in April, told the story of 13-week-old daughter Camden, who died in May 2012 at an unlicensed, unregulated, but legal family day care near her Shenandoah, Va., home. Read her family’s story here.

Betsy Cummings, a Parent @ Symposium in 2011, shared the story of her infant son Dylan, who died after being put down for a nap on his stomach in a hot, cramped room with 10 other infants at Little Eagles Day Care in Norfolk. Read her family’s story here.
