Priced out of licensed child care?

August 13, 2013

Raising a child will cost families more than $240,000 before a child’s 18th birthday, according to an August 2013 report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Child care and education expenses account for 18 percent of those costs.

Families are forced to make tough choices as the cost of child care continues to rise and wages stay the same or go down. But there is an even bigger unknown:  What is the quality of the child care program?

Executive Director Lynette M. Fraga, Ph.D., writes about the issue in her latest blog post.
