Parent Leaders: Jodi Pollin is the mother of three children in Oklahoma. She stayed home for six years after the birth of her first child, but then returned to the workforce in order to make ends meet. She received child care assistance for a while but had to remove her children from care when she lost assistance. She then had a friend care for her children until she learned about a half-day center where she could work and her children could attend at no cost. She now works at the center and sees other parents struggle each day. Codie Warner is a parent of two children in Oklahoma who advocates for affordable child care and access to quality programs, particularly for child care during nontraditional hours. Jennie Dexter, a parent from Oklahoma, is an advocate for more affordable quality child care for all children. She also is fighting for better early intervention programs which she experienced first-hand when her daughter was screened and found eligible for service through her local Community Service Council.
