The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and a broad base of other partners, including NACCRRA and the Nemours Foundation, have entered into a cooperative effort to promote healthy behaviors in child care settings. Let’s Move! Child Care builds on the early success of the Let’s Move! initiative. As part of this collaboration, in 2011 NACCRRA surveyed Child Care Resource and Referral agencies (CCR&Rs) to leverage their key role in understanding trends and needs in the early childhood professional community at the state and local level. The survey results showed that CCR&Rs provide a broad range of health-related training and technical assistance to child care providers. They provide an array of training related to nutrition, as well as healthy development and practices. This report highlights the need to devote more attention and resources to professional development in promoting good, healthy practices among early childhood workers.
