State Budget Cuts: America’s Kids Pay the Price, 2011 Update provides an illustrative list of state budget cuts in 2010 affecting children. This report is an update to a similar report released last year. What is clear is that the recession may be technically over, but the weak economy continues to fuel state budget deficits. To bring budgets into balance, states have been cutting a wide array of programs, many of which affect the lives of children such as child care, education, and health care.
